Instructional Coaching Info

If you've been at HighMark longer than a year or two, you know that Instructional Coach is not a new position. The school had a coach and then went a different direction, and then brought the position back this year. I've actually never worked with an Instructional Coach or even worked at a school with one, so when I found out about this opportunity, I had to spend a lot of time brainstorming, researching, and meeting with admin to figure out the vision for this role. What we came up with is hopefully something that is the most productive and beneficial for the school.

So, what the heck does an Instructional Coach actually do? I support teachers through instruction, curriculum, data, and school wide initiatives, and anything else that drives student achievement. Working with me is a safe space without judgement, where mistakes are expected and solutions aren't one size fits all.

***Disclaimer: I DO NOT HAVE ALL THE ANSWERS NOR WILL I PRETEND TO***
I believe that together, we can find the solution to any problem.

I am here to support you so that you can best support your students. I'm in classrooms, in hallways, in the office, in my office...here there and every where. I'm brainstorming, collaborating, observing, reflecting, collecting data, covering classes, teaching, listening, high-fiving, creating, sharing, assisting and connecting with teachers and students. Instructional Coaching can be formal with a set schedule where I'm in your room and we're working closely together or it can be informal and on the fly and with something that's a one and done solution. There really is nothing that is too big or too small an ask. I'm super flexible and happy to help however I can so if you need anything at all...just holla!

How to reach me:

  • e-mail
  • text
  • stop by my office- if I'm not there, leave me a note on my door or desk!
  • flag me down in the hallway
  • Make an appt via my Bookings page that will sync to Outlook
  • Wait on my couch, grab a snack and/or tissue...I'll be back eventually
Working with you all in this capacity for the past few weeks has been fantastic and I can't wait to see where the year takes us! -Karin
