UTIPS

UTIPS is a formative assessment tool provided by USBE that allows teachers to build benchmark tests based on grade level, subject, and standard. It pulls questions from a teacher submitted item bank, organized by standard, to create an assessment that can be printed to complete by students on-line if you set them up with accounts (optional). You can also format your own items/questions to create an assessment from scratch. Item formatting is similar to what students might see on RISE. Data is compiles and tracked for you on the platform.

Ideas for UTIPS in the classroom:

  • data driven small group work targeting individual standards
  • differentiated content
  • whole group pre-assessment or review
  • additional RISE practice
  • progress monitoring for specific skills
  • use as a platform to create & organize your own standards based questions

Video: How to Create an Assessment (5 min)

Questions are organized by grade/subject/standard, so once you're in creating an assessment you can focus in on your content. Below, for example, you see there are 955 questions relating to Utah Core Math 4th. 200 of those questions are Operations and Algebraic Thinking, etc. You choose the questions based on standard.

NOTE: Because these are teacher submitted items, it's strongly recommended to preview the questions and revise them as needed before sharing with students.
