...And for the record, I was totally kidding about summer being the only perk. We get to work every day with the most creative, brilliant, incredible little (and not so little minds) that are one day going to be the future of this world. They may make us bonkers at times, but the lightbulb moments and the belly laughs are among my favorite parts of being an educator. The moments when I truly feel like I have reached the unreachable child or that I've made a difference, even in the smallest way could never compare to a 10% off coupon. Helping kids process through big emotions, helping them see the best in themselves even when they are at their worst, and watching them grow into people they can be proud of...I'll take those over any BOGO deal any day.
There are so many truly special things about being a teacher, but, admittedly, it's still nice to be recognized and get some main stream rewards for all of that hard work. So, happy Teacher Appreciation Week; and, if nothing else, we'll always have summers 😉
