This cool tool provides no-prep, personalized reading practice. It's aligned with Readworks.org passages and also allows students to create customizable stories based on their interests and reading levels. Students read aloud into their device and the AI works it's magic to provide fluency and accuracy feedback. Students will also get a list of words to practice. Badges and rewards make it fun and motivating!
This app can be used in your classroom to target students who need fluency practice, as an independent/choice work time option, or as a home support. If you use ReadWorks already, you can pair it with the available comprehension and vocabulary practice.

Reading Coach Overview:

"Create a Story" mode:
Students generate interactive, AI-powered stories by choosing their character, setting, and reading level. They choose their own adventure to decide what happens next in each chapter.
"Read a Passage" mode:
This mode pulls from ReadWorks texts organized by Lexile, genre, and word count. A variety of educational content supports diverse ability and interest.
"Add a Passage" mode:
Students can further personalize their reading by uploading custom passages from assignments, textbooks, or even their own writing. This mode supports individual learning needs and specific objectives, making practice targeted and meaningful.
"Practice Word" feature:
After reading, students can select "Practice words" in the results box. Reading Coach will provide 5 challenging focus words. Students can practice words one at a time and can use the tools to break into syllables or listen to pronunciation. The word and star level will change based on improvement. Once both turn green, the student can go to the next word.
Accessibility:
Immersive Reader is embedded in Reading Coach for inclusive learning accomodations. When students select "start reading", they unlock a variety of features including-
Preference of text size, spacing, font, and color
Syllable breakdown
Parts of speech identification
Scaffolds such as line reading or picture dictionary
Word pronunciation
Progress Tracking:
Every time a student reads a passage, they can see their progress on specific data points like accuracy, time spent reading, and personalized word lists.
